Suspected Red Light Runner Causes Fatal Las Vegas Car Accident

A 51-year-old woman was killed and three passengers were injured in a North Las Vegas car accident that occurred at a street intersection. According to a FOX 5 news report, the fatal crash occurred at the intersection of Harmon Avenue and Jones Boulevard. Officials say a 21-year-old woman drove her 2008 Ford Focus through a red light traffic signal before crashing into a 2010 Ford Focus.

The driver of the 2010 Focus was killed and two passengers sustained minor injuries. A 26-year-old man in the other vehicle suffered serious injuries. It is not clear what caused the driver to run the red light or if she will be cited for the fatal collision.

According to the report, 38 people have already been killed in Las Vegas traffic accidents this year. Whenever someone is killed in a Las Vegas car accident it must be determined who was responsible and who should be held liable for the damages and losses caused.

Types of Car Accident Injuries in Las Vegas

Car accidents can cause whiplash, a common neck injury caused by a sudden jerking of the head.

Traumatic brain injuries can result from car accidents, causing long-term cognitive and physical impairment.

Broken bones and fractures can occur due to the force of impact in a car accident.

Soft tissue injuries such as sprains, strains, and bruises can also occur, leading to pain and limited mobility.

Fatal Injuries can be obtained in these horrific crashes, as was the case in this report.  Families of those who have passed can file a wrongful death claim with a local attorney. Steps to Take After a Car Accident

  • Check for injuries and call for medical assistance if needed.
  • Exchange contact and insurance information with the other driver involved.
  • Take photos of the accident scene and any damages to all vehicles.
  • Contact your insurance company as soon as possible to report the accident.

Seeking Financial Compensation

Drivers who are distracted or drowsy driving, drunk drivers, and drivers who are speeding or reckless driving have an increased chance of committing serious traffic violations and causing car accidents resulting in vehicular manslaughter.

The family of someone killed in a Las Vegas car accident may seek financial compensation for their losses by filing a wrongful death claim. Damages that may be covered by such a claim include funeral expenses, medical bills, lost future income and emotional distress.
