Auto Insurance Coverage: Don’t Wait to the Last Minute

In our office we see that accidents can happen at any time so if you wait until the last day of your insurance coverage period you might find yourself without insurance. In Nevada, insurance coverage for auto policies expires at 12:01 a.m. on the expiration date. If an accident happens after 12:01 a.m. on the expiration date listed on your proof of insurance card you will not have coverage to protect you.

If you plan on changing insurance companies, don’t wait until the last day to shop around and find new coverage and if you are renewing your current insurance, make sure you do so a few days before the expiration date. This will help you avoid an interruption in your insurance coverage and avoid a lapse in insurance coverage will result in a fine by the Nevada DMV.
