Motorists of Passenger Vehicles and Motorcycles Must Consider Each Other
While the roads may be big enough for all types of vehicles, there is never enough room for people to drive recklessly or negligently. Instead, motorists of all vehicles must be considerate of each other and do their best to keep the roads safe for one another.
The Story of a Motorcyclist Who Lost His Life
On November 1, a motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries after colliding with a tractor trailer while riding on the Las Vegas Strip.
According to law enforcement officers, the young motorcycle rider was speeding while riding with a group. The crash occurred when the group failed to yield to the truck that was backing into an entrance.
Police officers state that the motorcyclists slid under the tractor-trailer after crashing into it.
Tips for the Drivers of Passenger Vehicles
Because cars, trucks, and SUVs are much larger than motorcycles, they can cause serious injuries to motorcyclists if drivers do not remain aware of their surroundings or consider the safety of smaller vehicles sharing the road.
To help keep motorcyclists safe, consider the following safety tips:
- Always check your blind spots
- Never change lanes unless the lines on the road permit you to do so
- Never weave in and out of traffic
- Always use your blinkers
Tips for Motorcyclists
Motorcycles are much smaller vehicles when compared to others. That is why it is very important that motorcyclists take the appropriate safety precautions when sharing the roads with larger vehicles.
If you ride a motorcycle, consider the following helpful safety tips:
- Never split lanes
- Don’t ride in the blind spots of other vehicles
- Never weave in and out of traffic
- Avoid riding in dangerous weather conditions
