Celebrating Our Partnership with Families for Effective Autism Treatment (FEAT) and the Spectrum Connects Friendship Program

At Shook & Stone Disability Lawyers, we take immense pride in supporting the families in our community, particularly those navigating the world with autism. One of the ways we do this is through our partnership with Families for Effective Autism Treatment (FEAT). This organization has been a beacon of hope and advocacy for families affected by autism. This partnership is especially meaningful to us because it also includes the Spectrum Connects Friendship Program, which was founded by John Shook and his loving family. This connection runs deep, and we are honored to be a part of these incredible efforts.

FEAT Programs

FEAT is a phenomenal organization dedicated to providing information, resources, and support for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families. Their mission is to connect families with essential therapies, educational tools, and community programs that make a difference in the lives of those impacted by autism.

FEAT offers a variety of impactful programs, including:

  • IEP – Advocacy Scholarship: Provides parents with a $200 scholarship to hire a Special Education Advocate to assist in school meetings (IEP, MDT, BIP, or 504 plan meetings).
  • iPad 4 U Scholarship: Offers individuals with autism an iPad, communication apps, and up to 10 hours of training to support language development.
  • Spectrum Connects Friendship Program: A social program designed to foster friendships for people of all ages through interactive activities such as bowling, gardening, cooking, and more.
  • Parents Night Out: Provides a respite program that allows parents and caregivers to ‘take a break’ while children engage in fun activities.
  • Parent Mentor Program: Connects newly diagnosed families with experienced mentors who can provide guidance on Southern Nevada programs, FEAT services, and educational options.
  • Parent Resource and Lending Library: Offers a collection of over 300 books and DVDs for parents and caregivers seeking additional information and support.
  • Parent Training: Provides free educational sessions on ABA therapy, state and federal resources, IEPs, and other important topics.
  • Parent Support Meetings: Regular support meetings, including Newly Diagnosed, Adult Meetings, Spanish Meetings, Dads Meetings, and Sibling Support groups.
  • Annual Events: Fun and engaging events such as picnics, holiday parties, talent shows, art sessions, poker tournaments, and golf outings.

Through our partnership with FEAT and the Spectrum Connects Friendship Program, we provide families with the resources, education, and support they need to navigate the autism journey with confidence and community.
