Can I work if I am declared disabled?
If you are disabled, many people ask us whether or not they can work at all. And the reality is, you can work in a limited capacity. We don’t recommend you attempt to work if you have a claim pending, because that could very well be used against you. But the rules do allow for a certain amount of activity that can occur, even if you are in fact disabled. That may not make a lot of sense, but the point is there are people who can do limited activity, but they simply can’t hold down a 40-hour a week job. That’s why these exceptions exist. So yes you can work in a limited capacity. If you are working too much, then the proof is in the pudding – you are able to work and you are not disabled.
