Person in Wheelchair Dies After Being Hit Near Cheyenne & Jones

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Shook & Stone)

On Monday morning, a person in a wheelchair was struck and killed by a car.

The crash happened at 11:19 a.m on October 3 near Cheyenne and Rowland Avenues, not far from Jones Boulevard according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

According to authorities, a person in a motorized wheelchair was struck by a car. Police stated that it was unclear if the pedestrian was crossing at a signal when he or she was hit.

Unfortunately, the pedestrian died after being taken to a hospital nearby.

Once next of kin are notified, the Clark County Coroner’s Office will identify the victim.

The Las Vegas Metro Police Department said that the driver who caused the crash remained on the scene. It is still too early in the investigation to determine if speed or impairment played a role in causing the accident.

Police advised motorists to avoid the area as the intersection will be closed in all directions for investigation.

Our hearts go out to the family at this terrible time.
