Can I Afford an Attorney?

When you come into our law firm, we do not charge for an initial consultation. We will talk with you as long as necessary to get information to evaluate the claim. Naturally, if we can’t help you, we will be honest with you and tell you so. If it’s a claim we can’t help you with, we will attempt to refer you to an attorney we think can help you. We do not charge for the initial consultation. After that point, if you do retain Shook & Stone, we are a contingency fee law firm. What that means is we charge a percentage of whatever we recover on your behalf. If you can’t afford medical care, we will arrange for a doctor to see you and be paid out of the settlement. This allows you to receive care now instead of waiting, which can make your condition worse. It also allows us to document your injuries and allows a doctor to present evidence at trial later if necessary.
