Charles J. York received a History and Biological Science Dual Bachelor’s Degree from the University of California, Davis in 1975, after which he attended the Western New England School of Law in Springfield, Massachusetts, earning his Juris Doctor in May of 1979.

Mr. York is an admitted and member of good standing in the State Bar of New York, Florida, and Nevada, and has been for over 25 years each. He began his legal career in 1980 with both Civil and Criminal Law practices until 1983 when he held the position of Associate General Counsel at the State Industrial Insurance System. He worked as Deputy Claimant’s Attorney and Chief Claimant’s Attorney at State Industrial Insurance until 1987, and then worked as a Workers’ Compensation Appeals Officer in the Department of Administration.

After working as Assistant Federal Public Defender at the Federal Public Defenders Office from 1989 to January 1990, Mr. York focused on Workers’ Compensation in other firms, as well as his own, until he joined Shook & Stone.
